Kuwait; 25th of January, 2017: Al Ahlia Contracting Group (ACG) believes in training young Kuwaiti engineers and providing them the platform to apply the skills being learnt at university; with that in mind, ACG just completed a 4 week internship program in conjunction with the Australian College of Kuwait’s School of Engineering.
Six students from ACK started an intensive 4 week program on the 25th of December which concluded on the 19th of January, 2017.
The students were based in Mahboola working on the construction of a restaurants complex with a built up area of approximately 22,400m².
During the internship, multiple subjects were covered including: Understanding of Project Designs, Concrete Works, Construction Management, Scheduling & Planning and Site Communication & Reports to name a few. Joumana Tasse, Internship Coordinator at ACK stated that “the experience of our six interns was enriching. They have a greater sense of their capabilities as engineers and a vision of their future career. ACK thanks Al Ahlia Contracting Group for supporting the program and opening the opportunity for our students to gain hands on experience.”
The objective of the internship was to prepare Kuwait’s future civil engineers with a taste of what they can expect once they graduate university and enter the workforce.
“Having met the interns a number of times onsite and at our Head Office, I was impressed by their enthusiasm, commitment and willingness to work. Applying what is learnt in a classroom environment to a work site is not straightforward but the interns demonstrated their keenness to learn and we hope we achieved that.” said Eng. Hamad Al Mashaan, Executive Manager at ACG. “We look forward to welcoming more civil engineering interns from ACK in the future,” he added.
